The band had cause for celebration on the 7th of September when two of its members got married.Tim Vinall (Solo Cornet) married Sarah Denham (1st Horn) in the wonderful setting of Barnsfeld Orchard, Fostall near Faversham, close to the couples home. Sarah looked lovely in a blue silk dress with a garland of orange roses in her hair. The day was generally rainy but as if on cue, at the very moment the couple were pronounced husband and wife the sun came out. During the evening the Betteshanger Band, including the newlyweds, of course, gave a concert in a rustic flower covered gazebo for the couples friends and family in the apple orchard. This was followed by a jazz/pop band, complete with a brass section. It would be true to say that all enjoyed a superb evening. Following this the happy couple departed for Paris and missed Mondays band practice I ask you!
The 7th of September seems to have some significance for our band as not only did Tim and Sarah get married, it is also my own wedding anniversary and that of our Musical Director David Burridge. Strange but true! It was with some sadness that we said goodbye to Rachel Wilson (1st Baritone) who has moved away from the area. Rachel was a popular band member and will be missed but I am pleased to report that she is already playing with another band who are already planning to use her in their contesting endeavours. |
